Time to leave
internet_tips
Hello. I've been reading the posts for some time now, both here and at the old webringnews club, both before and after Black Tuesday. At first it all served a great purpose. No, it was not complaining or whining (although there was plenty of that - valid, given the circumstances). These groups (webringnews before the moderators began their rampage) helped all of us focus on the issues and solve some problems.
The most obvious issue was "what do we do now?" For myself this was of overriding importance, as I had put a lot of time and effort into my rings and I was not happy with the Yahoo! implementation. What these clubs provided for me was advice and aid in picking the correct solution and moving my rings.
For a while there was the hope that we might make a difference and somehow change the new ring system into something that might work better for us. And I believe that we did make an impact - as evidence I submit the new policy that the old fragments will work forever.
However, lately I've seen the purpose of the group disappear. This club no longer appears to serve a useful purpose. Over the past few weeks I've seen many derogatory comments posted about Bob and Marisa. At first these were necessary as wrongs were being committed, but now they just are petty and unnecessary. These two people should just be ignored.
The petty bickering and such have gotten out of hand and serve no useful purpose.
I have fulfilled the goals that I had when I joined this club: (1) to find a new place to host my rings (RingSurf and Ringlink), (2) to try and make a difference and perhaps change the new webring to something more useful and usable, and (3) to join in a reasonable dialogue with people who had similar goals and whose dreams and hopes for webring had been crushed similar to mine.
Thus, there is no longer any reason to stay and many reasons to leave. I bid my farewells to the group and I hope that you all do well in the future. Anyone who wishes to remain in communication may visit my web site or email me at any time.
