During the period of time when there was a large group of people protesting the changes at Webring a number of special "protest" webrings were formed. These rings were intended to illustrate the problems and complaints in a graphic and often humorous way.
At the peak there were perhaps 50 rings. Our site joined them all to help illustrate our protest of the changes that occurred.
After about two months it became apparent that the entire "cause" had become unnecessary and even degrading. Yahoo had made their changes and pretty much ignored all of the protests. In fact, to my knowledge there was never a communication of any kind to any protest group from anyone employed at Yahoo.
We decided to leave the protest rings as they were serving no useful purpose.
